Recycling Center Haul

 It's been a long time since I last went to the nearest recycling center and I had forgotten the huge variety of what they sell. Anyway, here's what I got. I'm bad at cutting straight so I thought this paper cutter for 2 euros would be pretty handy (I tested it at the recycling center and it worked fine). I could use the old muffin molds (they were actually for free) for making candles. My mother got the wooden beads for the next key chain necklace I'll make for her (I give her one every Christmas). And I thought the little frames below would be nice for the summer cottage. I'll put a little picture in the white one too so it can serve both as a kitchen towel hanger and as art. 

 En edes muista koska olisin viimeksi käynyt Kierrätyskeskuksessa, enkä todellakaan muistanut kuinka suuri valikoima siellä on. Jos ostan joskus vielä pöytäkoneen, taidan etsiä sitä Kierrätyskeskuksesta. Tällä kertaa hankin kuitenkin muutamia pikkujuttuja, suurin osa heräteostoksia. En saa koskaan leikattua paperia täysin suoraan, joten ajattelin että tämä kahden euron paperileikkuri voisi olla aika kätevä (testasin sitä ennen ostamista ja toimii). Vanhat muffinivuoat (ne löytyivät ilmaisosastolta) voisivat käydä kynttilöiden valamiseen. Äitini osti puuhelmet seuraavaa avainketjukaulakorua varten (teen hänelle uuden joka jouluksi). Alhaalla olevat pikkutaulut sopivat mökille koristeiksi. Valkoinen kehys toimii koristeellisuuden (kunhan keksin siihen sopivan kuvan) lisäksi keittiöpyyhkeen ripustuspaikkana.

I have about million times more envelopes than I have letter paper so if I find cheap copy paper with pictures on it, I tend to buy it. Both the boat and Christmas copy paper were 50 cents per pack (25 pages). And the real reason I wanted to go to the recycling center was to check if they had nice frames for my artwork. They had a lot of frames. Just not as decorative as I had hoped for. But at least a lot cheaper than from regular stores and some were still in their original packaging. For now I got two A4 glass frames for 1 euro and 1.50 euros. I think I'll only ever buy frames from recycling centers and flea markets from now on. 

 Kirjeharrastuksen myötä kirjekuoria on kertynyt monin verroin enemmän kuin kirjepapereita, joten ostan yleensä näkemäni halvat kuvalliset kopiopaperit. Sekä purjevene- että joulupaperit maksoivat molemmat vain 50 senttiä per pakkaus (25 paperia). Varsinainen syy Kierrätyskeskukseen menemiseen oli etsiä taulunkehyksiä. Niitä oli paljon, muttei niin erikoisia kuin olisin toivonut. Kehykset olivat kuitenkin halvempia kuin tavallisissa kaupoissa ja osa vielä alkuperäispakkauksissaan. Ostin tällä kertaa nämä kaksi A4-kokoista lasikehystä, toisen eurolla ja toisen puolellatoista. Tästä lähtien kaikki ostamani kehykset taitavat löytyä kierrätyskeskuksista tai kirpputorilta.

 And finally I got a few flower pots. Right now all my plants (except for my flowering St. Paulia and cactus) are in the balcony or in the garden, but at winter time it seems there are never enough pots of a certain size so these will help with that. They were cheap and as good as new. 

 Ja lopuksi piti saada muutama kukkaruukku. Melkein kaikki kasvini ovat joko parvekkeella tai ulkona (ilman suojaruukkua) (paitsi kukkiva St. Paulia ja kaktus), mutta talvisin tuntuu ettei sopivan kokoisia ruukkuja ole koskaan tarpeeksi. Ja nämäkin olivat sekä halpoja että uudenveroisia.

I draw the sketch on a separate paper, where it's easier to erase and clean up the outlines and then transfer the finished sketch onto my painting surface. How to Save Leftover Acrylic Paint for Later

A quick tip on how to save acrylic paint for later! If you mix too much acrylic paint or pour too much paint out of the tube, do you know what to do with the leftover paint?
