Postcrossing Bears and Writing in Russian

Aloitin venäjän opinnot tammikuussa ja päätin hyödyntää Postcrossingia venäjän kirjoittamisen harjoittelussa. Yleensä tuntuu että suurin osa Postcrossing-korteista menee Venäjälle, mutta tällä kertaa arpa osui Saksaan ja Yhdysvaltoihin. Amerikkalaisen postcrossaajan profiilissa kieliin oli kuitenkin listattu myös venäjä, joten pääsin harjoittelemaan muutaman sanan verran. Opettelen myös kyrillistä kaunokirjoitusta, mutta korttiin kirjoitin ihan painokirjaimin.


I started studying Russian in January and thought I could practice writing Russian by sending a Postcrossing card to Russia. I figured I'd probably get a Russian address on the first or second try because that's what usually happens. But not this time. I got addresses to Germany and the US. ...but the American postcrosser did have Russian listed in his languages in his profile so it worked out fine anyway.

I hate the smudges on my camera lens. I've tried to clean it many times but I think the smudges just got worse. I'm thinking of getting a new camera for my birthday in March anyway though, so this won't be a problem for long anymore.


This last photo is just to highlight that I really did write a few words in Russian. Not in cursive writing yet though (but I'm working on it).

How to Save Leftover Acrylic Paint for Later

A quick tip on how to save acrylic paint for later! If you mix too much acrylic paint or pour too much paint out of the tube, do you know what to do with the leftover paint? If you're planning to continue painting the next day, you can't just leave it, cause acrylic paint will dry by then. How to Transfer Sketch onto Painting Surface

As I've mentioned before, I don't usually draw my sketches for paintings straight onto watercolor paper or canvas. I draw the sketch on a separate paper, where it's easier to erase and clean up the outlines and then transfer the finished sketch onto my painting surface. In this  blog post I'll list five different methods to transfer your drawing onto the painting surface. They're all either cheap or completely free.
